Setting goals is a huge part of your success. They are what you work towards and incorporate every part of your life. What should you aim for as a leader?
The answer to that comes down to who you are as a leader and what you classify as success! Most people think of 100% or leadership goals being linked to money. In actuality, your goals could be focused on your impact on humanity or on philanthropy, rather than money.
You as a leader have the power to set you goals, so make sure you set goals that fit in with your character.
Goals Vs Perfectionism
When speaking about goals, perfectionism always comes up. The art of focusing on being perfect even when it impedes process. The need to always get 100%.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, it is simply how some people are wired. How do these people cope?
It comes down to is the glass half empty or half full. It’s the same glass, it’s how you see it that matters. How do you look at failure?
Is it a learning experience or is it something to be ashamed of? Failure is a great opportunity to learn, so frame it as that. An opportunity to learn!
Doing this will help you to set big goals and to grow, even when you don’t achieve them.
Doing Vs Leading
To reach big goals as a leader, you need to lead. A star chef does not earn his Michelin stars by doing everything themselves, rather they train their team and delegate smartly to produce the best results!
Too many leaders fail to let go, they want to control every aspect of their business. That mindset is like running a race with your shoelaces untied, you will keep tripping until you tie the laces and let them do their job.
