Can ChatGPT Make You a Better Leader?

Written by Daniel Nel | Jun 21, 2023 9:20:17 AM

We previously wrote about how AI cannot replace a human leader. While AI has the IQ, they lacked the EQ & human aspect to lead people. However, late last year ChatGPT was released.

ChatGPT is the world’s first conversational AI, allowing you to communicate with AI through a text based system. No needs to know coding or to have a computer science degree, now anyone could have access to the power of AI.

While there have been many comparisons to its abilities and use cases, few have looked at how ChatGPT can make you a better leader.

Good Leadership Requires Good Communication

If you cannot communicate correctly, it is unlikely that you will gain a good following. While before, AI did not have the human touch to help with communication, now it does.

Need help fleshing out your talking points, ChatGPT can help. Need a hand finding resources or quotes, ChatGPT can help. Want your article to be rewritten, ChatGPT can help.

ChatGPT can help take your ideas and make it into an article/ speech/ lecture. And it can do this with ease. While it won’t replace leaders, it will make your life much easier.

ChatGPT Can Give You A Second Perspective

One of the most powerful aspects of ChatGPT is its ability to rephrase or bring in a new perspective. You can ask ChatGPT to rewrite your inputs into a new perspective.

As an example, we asked ChatGPT to rewrite the following paragraph with the focus being on how sales is more important that culture:

“Building a strong company culture is more important than building a strong sales department. Culture is what holds a team together and helps them to work together more productively.”

This is what it gave us:

“Building a strong sales department should be prioritized over building company culture. While culture is important, the sales department is the key driver of revenue and growth for the company. A well-built sales team can generate more leads and close more deals, which ultimately leads to increased revenue and profitability.”

While this may be a simple example, the use cases as a leader are huge. It can play devil’s advocate to your work, helping you to develop stronger and clearer arguments and ideas.

While AI is not yet ready to replace leaders, it has made leaps and bounds forward. It can now help you to deliver better communication, which is at the heart of good leadership.
