Much of today’s telecoms news is focused on cloud computing and the benefits that this technology offers to businesses. One of the greatest benefits that cloud computing is able to offer is to allow the business to focus on the business itself and not spend copious amounts of time and energy on IT issues. Cloud computing also offers a pay-as-you-go model making this a very affordable option in an increasingly expensive industry.

South African telecoms providers are constantly growing the range of services and products that they offer in this space. Cloud technology is new when compared to other ICT solutions and, at first glance, can seem complicated and daunting.

It is highly recommended that organisations formulate their cloud computing strategies and choose their cloud partners carefully and wisely. A number of considerations will need to be made by the business when implementing cloud solutions including, but not limited to, defined needs and requirements for each business unit, user acceptance, security, customer service preferences, implementation procedures and change management.

There is little doubt that an effective and reliable cloud computing service provider can increase the productivity and profitability of an organisation and the people within it. It can also make us more efficient in our personal lives according to a study commissioned by Rackpace Hosting on Wearable technology.

This cloud phenomenon is fast becoming the international norm according to this study. Many of the respondents believe that wearable technology improves their health and fitness levels, increases their self-confidence and assists in the advancement of their careers. Wearable technology claims to help people feel more control of their day to day living. Cloud technology is definitely advancing further and further into all aspects of our work and personal lives!
