The Power of Culture: Building a Strong Brand

So many businesses spend a fortune redoing their marketing plans, creating new logos, and making sure they look great. But they often forget to look within at their culture. And while new marketing will grow your brand, nothing will grow your brand more than your companies culture.

Culture Attracts Good People & Good Clients

People like to be in a healthy & productive environment. A healthy and productive environment is a happy environment, one we all try to create and maintain. This means we seek out these environments, in every area of our lives. Top candidates will look at a company’s environment to see if they will be happy, potential clients will look at the way you do things and the energy you give off to decide whether to work with you or not.

Culture is not simply a concept to make your staff happier, it’s a strategy to grow your business!

It Starts With You

As a founder/ owner/ CEO, the culture starts with you. If you want to create a happy environment, if you want to create a company that people want to work for, then that starts with you.

If you walk around barking orders and not checking in to see how your employees are doing, then you are not going to grow your business. On the flip side, if you encourage and nurture your team, giving them a safe place to fail and to succeed, then you will see more loyalty, determination, and dedication towards your business.

Rituals Are Key

A great way to start building a better culture is to create rituals. Rituals can be described as something unique that happens at your business and happens at specific times or intervals.

In short, it is the drum that keeps your business alive.

Rituals are the celebrations, the hangouts, the check ins, the fun, and the team building you do. But more than just some corporate jargon, it is focused on being genuine and connecting genuinely with the rest of your team.

Hanging out at the bar and playing pool on a Friday afternoon, going out for a team lunch, and having regular 1 on 1 check ins, are all great examples of rituals. However, the key part missing is to make them unique to you. Your business needs to feel like you, it needs to carry your presence, and rituals help you to do that.
