As leaders, we like to set big goals! Goals that test us and push us to our limits. These are the goals that help us to achieve great things and inspire others, but if we do not lead our team correctly, these goals can overwhelm and dishearten your team.

Share Your Big Goal

Sharing your vision and goal can help others to see it. Your big goal should not be a certainty, as if you will certainly achieve something, then it is not a goal. Your goal should be big, inspiring, and hard to reach! Those are the goals that help your team to achieve great things.

Have a strategy session where you can explain your goal and motivations behind your goal to help your team see and understand what they are aiming for.

Be Persistent & Break It Down

“Luck favours the persistent!”

You will learn the most through failure, so climb the impossible mountain, fail, learn, and try again! By trying you will grow, you will learn your limit, and get better. But as a leader, you need to communicate this as to not dishearten your team.

Break things down into small steps with small wins, so even if you don’t make it to the top of the mountain, you still have wins to celebrate along the way. Set small goals, identify the obstacles ahead, and work out plans to move past those obstacles.

Inspire Others

The best way to motivate your team and stop them from getting overwhelmed by a big goal is to inspire them! Explain your why in detail and align your why with each team members individual goals!

Create that alignment and hunger to reach your goal, and assist them in developing the right mindset. An aligned team is always better than a big team!
