Automation has become a strategic enabler for our department and has proven to be an important asset in my digital toolkit. Today, perhaps more so than ever, it’s important that brands are constantly innovating and, as such, I am always looking for new ways to up productivity and improve processes. I’m already exploring how I can incorporate OneView into other aspects of the work we do.
Stian Joubert: General Manager of IT Infrastructure and Operations Pick ‘n Pay
One of South Africa’s largest supermarket groups, Pick n Pay, has been able to automate their IT finance processes with the help of our Azure-based solution, OneView. Pick n Pay needs to manage a number of supplier relationships in order to optimise the performance of its technology and retail environment.
Controlling IT costs and being able to determine areas of improvement is a high priority for the supermarket, who analyse all bills within the IT environment, including WAN, LAN, mobile, voice and software licensing, to ensure that the correct expenses have been allocated to the relevant business units. Billing inaccuracies are also identified. This previously manual and time consuming process is now automated by OneView. Integration with Pick n Pay’s ERP system has streamlined cost allocation and recovery process as well as the generation of billing reports. A live, and holistic overview of mobile device usage and costs has provided the supermarket with greater visibility into their technology spend.
Since deployment, OneView has significantly improved the efficiency of reporting and cost control efforts. The time to produce a full monthly IT billing report has decreased from around 2 hours to just 45 minutes. Smaller reports have been dropped from 1 hour to just 10 minutes.
