Stay Positive Don’t Lose Motivation

The world of business and leadership is hard. With many transitions and constant unknown’s, walking in front and leading your people can seem like a mammoth task at times. You may even question why you are walking in front, why are you leading?

Staying positive and staying motivated in these times can be tough, and one thing I like to look at is my unique blend of leadership, what makes me a leader.

Unique Blend of Leadership

Your ingredients are your leadership manifesto. They make up who you are and determine who is attracted to follow you. Rather than trying to find the best blend, focus on being strong and unique by working on each element in your leadership style.

What makes up your blend? You do, mainly through these five elements:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Communication
  • Authenticity
  • Empathy
  • Adaptability

Your leadership blend is like a smoothie. You through in several different ingredients and blend them together in varying quantities to make something unique.

As with a smoothie, the best way to evaluate your leadership blend is to taste it and watch other people taste it. By tasting it yourself and analyzing and reflecting on your leadership blend, you can identify improvements to make to your blend. Similarly, if you watch other people tasting your blend, you can tell by their facial expressions what they really think.

Your leadership blend is unique and can change over time. Taste it, evaluate it, and consistently improve the recipe.

Do You Face the Storm, or Run Away?

When a rainstorm falls over a herd of cows, they tend to run away to try and escape the storm. What usually happens is they end up worse off as the storm hits them as they run and moves towards them as they try to outrun the storm.

In contrast, when a rainstorm falls on a herd of buffalo, they turn and face the storm head on. This helps to dampen the storm’s power as it moves over them. In turn, they face the storm for a shorter time and with lesser effects.

In life, if you try to run away from storms, you will feel its effects for longer and more intensely. Whereas, if you face a storm head on, you can shorten and reduce the intensity of its effects. Use your blend and face your problems head on.
